Sir Moses Montefiore, Randwick
Montefiore’s aim for this project was to create a flagship building for quality aged care in Sydney. It was also to be a model that could be adapted to local contexts and cultures internationally.
Consideration towards the needs of its future residents was the highest priority. The Montefiore Homes exist to service these needs and accept nothing less than the best quality possible for every aspect of their mission.
The design of the building is based around common areas in the corners and middle of the building linked by a row of resident rooms described as a neighbourhood. Each neighbourhood has its own unique signage and theme.
The building consists of both high and low care rooms for 276 residents and facilities include an indoor, heated therapy pool, hairdresser, retail shops, breakout areas and landscaped courtyards.
